29.9.99 Soft wind early morning is screaming again by noon. Freakish weather, a double low front, now swinging in from south east. (hey northern hemisphere kids, all is upside down here, so north means hot. odd one.) Temperature drops, clouds build dense, smells of rain. An offer appears to drive to the shearing shed so accept. And then Ned appears and lights a fire, computer is happily sheathed in cling film, and we can work. Stress dissipated with fingers no longer tapping grit. Crackling fire cosy inside, storm raging out. And with the sunset the wind goes and some kind of miracle happens with the dinner the best concoction yet. Or maybe it was the passing emu.
