dear john,

hope you are fine today. here we are suddenly the interest of the local residents.

at dawn a huge red booma was seen to hop down our red rock, stop beside sleeping me, stare at alan making coffee, swing to check me out invisible in me swag, hop a bit closer, stare back at alan, (who'd gone unsuccessfully in search of the vid.camera), wait for him to come back, sit straight up on its arse and turn into a 6 foot termite mound, hold the look for 5, snort, turn away and elegantly, shiny copper red muscular shoulders glinting in the sunshine, hop away.

at noon, an adolescent bungarra (3ft) swaggered into camp, posed from all angles, moved off to catch grasshoppers with its long flicky tongue, swaggered back, posed some more, and 20mins later, decided to leave. This, apparently, is a rare and special thing so we feel well honoured.

yesterday i saw a desert death adder: well the back 3ft of it. i'm still vegan but blimey, it really looked good enough to eat.

splinker,
kfx
