NEWSFLASH: June 1999: Kaffe Matthews' Third Solo CD Out

New release on Annette Works from live convertor Kaffe Matthews on the case in Oslo, Chicago and London

A further stride into more noisy rhythms and abstract cyber landscapes, cdCécile is a clear shift into dirt and swooping beats and some kind of wizard abuse of repetition to transport all senses. The violin has pretty much disappeared. In fact you'll be lucky to get a glimpse of it. Using more of the sound of the places and people she plays (on this one its Oslo, Chicago and London ('98-99) there's a sense that Kaffe really cracks the whip on her electronics. Gone are the sugar tacky violin motifs. Now if heard, its more as showers of burning bees or cracking icebergs or rolling bass grooves. Cécile rocks.
